New life for an OLD filter cartridge.
Ok I just got finished Safe-T- Sorbing my 75 and I discovered my filter pads were SHOT this is my attempt at making a cheep pad that will clear my tank.

A few to many rinses. My filter fell apart.
I stripped off as much of the old blue floss as I could
I bought this, over 18 square feet for $4.71 including tax, at Walmart.
I cut a piece a little longer than the rib that will wrap around with an overlap.
Tuck the bottom.
Fold over one side.
Then the other.
Hold everything in place with a few rubber bands. A filter cartridge is re-born!
This is the tank at 1:30 pm Sunday. We will see how it works.

You can drastically improve the filtration by taking that floss and wrapping it around the intake tube a couple of times and use a rubberband to hold it in place. You might also be able to find some sponges that fit intake tubes and use them as pre-filters. The smaller pores will clog up faster. So don't get any that are very small pores.
