I don't want to suggest this but you can always get an ro unit and add shrimp supplement from fluval. So you can keep any shrimps.

Still waiting on you to buy me the bigger house too!
How come you didn't tell Bill what you told me? He basically in somewhat nicer words told me any idiot can keep RCS I'll agree, if I can do it anyone can!
I think I might hallucinated some berried females or even some baby shrimp. I'm ok with seeing things that may or may not exist (note I'm posting at 4am, no I do not get up this early, I haven't gone to sleep yet!)
BUT Anywho! around a month into these guys? is that right? I'm thrilled with the grade! Thrilled with the number I got to start with! It's really fun to tell my daughter to count them.... she can't count that high yeah, mean mommy! She loves them too and impersonates them.

Re: neo did it again - another RCS owner!
Any tips on how to do water changes? I keep finding tinny baby shrimp in my bucket after syphoning water out. I try to vacuum the gravel slowly but those tinny ones don't seem to get out of the way. I have to sift the waste water out of the bucket with a shrimp net to prevent from flushing any babies away. I know its just a shrimp but I feel terrible if I know one is getting flushed. Same can't be said for the snails. Actually look forward to crushing the shells and watching the shrimp or fish feed one what's left of the snails. I need more assassin snails to keep up with the pond snails.

Advice on water change with shrimp... do I admit this? I don't.... I top off but have not done ANY water changes on this tank whatsoever since the shrimp have moved into the tank. I know, I know, bad..... but they are happy and breeding and levels are reading good.....

Use a pantyhose to cover your siphon. I use drip method for changing water.

Should I be concerned if you both have pantyhose and I don't????

That's going to be a real awkward conversation with the wife as to why I need a pair of her panty hose.

nah, go in a shoe store and walk around and put a couple of the footie ones for trying shoes on with in your pocket and walk out.... Or use them over your socks to try shoes on and then take them home with you Payless

Lol....let me know how it works out for you. Also weekly water changes are essential for any shrimp tank because they are nitrate sensitive. It also stimulates breeding.

Zero nitrates is no problem in my tank. The tank is 50% plants by volume. Or 25% proof. I've been vodka dosing my tanks.
