Re: Moe and the Mysteries
His type isn't so rare, just more of an issue of being illegal to ship etc and an invasive species. Pomacea paludosa
I do have 2 clutches of mystery snail eggs, 1 should hatch soon, from my blue female and my golden male - so hopefully some Jade babies, as well as some golden or blue and maybe some other possibilities. I have some young healthy ivories right now if anyone wants.

Re: Moe and the Mysteries
Cherry shrimp aren't that hard to keep. As long as you do basic maintenance(regular water changes and feeding) its good enough. I jumped into cherry shrimp without knowing anything but learned a long the way. Its all about being patience and doing your research as much as you can.

Re: Moe and the Mysteries
Would anyone be interested in a Moe of their very own?
I got more baby snails in - and the ********** sent me 6 more Florida apple snails.
Things you need to know:
I can currently have these sit on my wedding ring and they are smaller than my 6mm pearl on my engagement ring (which I damaged too much so no longer wear) In a MONTH these will be the size of the mystery snails when you get them in the stores. By 6 months these are larger than a full grown mystery and will get to baseball sized.
They eat plants - except hornwort - do not put them in a tank with anything you like! You must feed them! Currently I give Moe cups of watersprite, duckweed, water lettuce, frogbit, cucumbers, lettuce etc. Like 3 cups a week or so! He eats it all!
They are illegal to mail so if you want one plan to keep for life, I prefer to not sell 2 together due to the difficulty to home, the large amount from 1 clutch, and currently not big enough to sex, and that many people are selling them as babies or clutches online and passing them off as mystery snails - I really feel bad for the people who this has happened to and had all their plants eaten.
So - picture:
I also prefer they be named "Moe" but I'm a bit odd.

Re: Moe and the Mysteries
That will be in a month! They grow SOOOO fast! By that point I should also be able to tell gender so if anyone wants more than 1 same sex I'd be comfortable with that. Sorry for being the pain, but to have gone from wanting NONE to having 7 - and knowing the damage they have done to many unsuspecting tanks due to some people's irresponsibility - I don't want to kill them but also want to control contributing to more issues.neogeo20041 wrote:let me know when they get to a decent size

Re: Moe and the Mysteries
Update photos of some of the Moes, the big one is my almost 8 month old, original Moe, the other 2 are probably at most a month old, I just did a big plant feeding last night so those were the ones I could find for pictures.
I have no clue what the orange is on his penis shield????

Re: Moe and the Mysteries
"secretly" hoping some got buried when I vaccuumed the tank last week.... If a couple people on here will take confirmed female/females I'll be happy if I just end up with males even if 1 female I have to get rid of egg clutches from!

neo - the middle sized one in this picture I'm 75% sure is female. How much bigger do you want it.

Re: Moe and the Mysteries
Once they get big enough that an African cichlid can't eat them, I can put them in a local regtaurat's 150 gallon tank. They have a ton of algae and the plecos won't touch it because the employees overfeed the tank and the pleco likes the fish food over scrapping algae.

Mysteries aren't great about cleaning, more they leave paths around the glass.Amp2020 wrote:Once they get big enough that an African cichlid can't eat them, I can put them in a local regtaurat's 150 gallon tank. Re: Moe and the Mysteries
I put the fake plant in with that algea to test - THE PLANT IS CLEAR!!!! I believe I have 3 females (other than the originial Moe) so if you have a place for them, that will dispose of eggs if there are any, let me know.Amp2020 wrote:Once they get big enough that an African cichlid can't eat them, I can put them in a local regtaurat's 150 gallon tank.
