If you need more plants and background, you'll find plenty of them at the next JRAS meet this Wednesday night. Send me your email address and I'll forward you the information for this meet. Going to have a big plant swap.

Very nicely done...A black (or deep blue) background will make your colors POP!! You can get slate/rock at a garden center....same stuff, LESS money!!

I will suggest checking garden center first like doxiemom said. If you don't want to spend any money I would just pick up some from the street or James river and boil them before putting them in my tank.

A word of warning. If you pull any rocks out of the water, be sure to either bleach it or cook the rocks. There's many little critters that you don't want in your tank. That includes parasites such as ick. Even if you grab dry rock, be sure to soak it in a bucket of water for a bit. Never know what toxins could have washed up onto the rocks.

Bill....why did I not think of the obvious!! Thanks!
Can't wait to see the pics of the changes you're making! Just an FYI...I use a few drops (1 tsp. per gallon, approx!) of bleach on the rocks in my tanks when cleaning! Just soak the new rock in a bucket or bowl for about an hour....rinse, rinse, rinse!!

If you can't find the look or size of rock you want, I suggest going to a local landscape/ nursery. Most of them also sell rock and gravel. I built a slate wall for a 150 gallon tank from top to bottom. The rock was $0.29 per lb. you just drive your vehicle onto a scale, load up, weigh your vehicle again, and they'll figure out the weight for you.
