Fish keeping contest
I was thinking of doing a contest for our devoted posters. The prize will be zoomed food. Some real high quality food that got recommend by fern on some previous post. It will be probably about who has the best pair of angelfish or best fish. Something of that sort. In order for you to participate all you just have to do is post a pic of your fish that is being asked. If anyone is interested on me doing a contest please let me know.

Re: Fish keeping contest
How about doing a tank of the month first? I have angels but not everyone does and will limit who can participate. I'd recommend choosing either a general idea or several ideas.

Re: Fish keeping contest
Well the point of my contest was so people start keeping different kinds of fish and show them off. Since this will be the first contest I'm still open to more ideas and suggestions. The tank of the month does sound very cool. Anyone like it or hate it??? Suggestions are welcome.

Hhhhmmmm.....People with bigger tank will always have an advantage so need to put a limit on how big your tank can be. I need more inquiries for this post If I get enough post I will assume I have a good support from the forum and I will proceed. So please let me know what you think

Not a bad idea. Should have two division. One is pro for advanced aquarist and for new aquarist new division. What you guys think???

Re: Fish keeping contest
Sounds like a good idea.
If anyone is experienced at shoot pictures of fish tanks, please start a thread with some advice for those who are new to aquatic photography. Its not always as easy as it looks. It will also improve the chances of some of our members coming up with some spectacular photos.

Re: Fish keeping contest
I don't know, I've seen some impressive micro tanks! the big have stun factor to them but takes a lot more to make them look good due to the space to be filled. same thing with the small tanks since easier to fill in and get a full scape but have to do it on a smaller level to look balanced still.neogeo20041 wrote:Hhhhmmmm.....People with bigger tank will always have an advantage so need to put a limit on how big your tank can be. Re: Fish keeping contest
I would recommend starting with one division to keep things simple. After a few months if the participation is high enough, it might make sense to break former winners into their own category. That should prevent newbies from getting too discouraged. Another way to encourage entries might be to have one judging or voting prize and one random prize.neogeo20041 wrote:Not a bad idea. Re: Fish keeping contest
How about an aquascaping contest for nano tanks? We all meet at a public location. Possibly on a Saturday and everyone is allowed to start around 9am. Then we judge the tanks at 5pm. This gives everyone plenty of time to aquascape their nano tank and for the water to clear up before they get judges. We would need to all pick a common tank size and everyone uses the same tank so that the focus is on the aquascaping and not the tank itself. Everyone would need to bring their own supplies but I could supply a few plants. No livestock, I don't want others thinking they can just throw a tank together in a few hours and add fish right away. I know of a local Petco that would allow this to take place in their aquatics department and possibly offer some prizes, tanles, food and drinks. Let me know what you all think. What size tank should we use?

10 would be too big, kinda the high end of nano to my thought. 5 could be cool.

Re: Fish keeping contest
Well I feel like I need to step up and do a contest of my like just so everyone gets involved.
Contest Rules-
1. Post pic of your favorite fish or invertebrate (It can be more then 1 pic)
2. Show it off in anyway you like for example you can post few pics here or do a slideshow.
3. Reason why it is your favorite fish or invertebrate.
4. The contest is going to be judged by people from the forums(If I don't enough participation I will just get my friends opinion on it)
5. The prize will be given based on the vote you get for your pics/slideshow/videos.
6. You will have a week to prepare the contest starts at November 18 at midnight and ends at 22 midnight.
I will also post the rules on a new thread when the contest starts. The prize will be SPIRULINA 20 FLAKE 4OZ. Since this is my first contest I'm only giving out 1 prize but depending on how this works I might start doing more contest and give out more prizes. Later in the future I might even give free fish who knows .
