More Angel Spawning
None of the wigglers from the last group made it.
The golden pair spawned again today. Wow, A LOT of eggs. Same spot on the filter intake tube.
Is there anyway to discourage this behavior? Does laying eggs deplete the mom similar to how it does in birds?
If I had a separate tank I'd move them out of the 75 gal, but I simply don't.

Re: More Angel Spawning
Bill, I know I should've gotten that darn tank but space in my studio is at a premium. I'm selling some of my bird cages (more cages than birds) and maybe I'll be able to squeeze another tank in here.
That being said, I was drooling over some of the discus at Rama's today.
Also, I have little to no interest in rearing Angels or any other fish really... I only have the guppies going as a food source and that tank is literally on my kitchen counter.

Coco...if you want to discourage breeding, you should part with one of the pair or both (would be BEST as they ARE a couple!!) And get a few "same sex" Angels. Most of us here that DO breed can distinguish between males and females for you. Why don't you post some pics and see if someone can trade out with you??

Actually, I was trying to say in a nice way that all of my angels are much nicer looking than Rama's. Eek.
I'll try and get some pics up soon.
I'm just surprised that they would try with 7 other angels in the tank.

CocoB.. I tend to agree with Dox.. you need to present them with an environment that allows them to spawn and be parents. Dox is a pretty good breeder, Ira is good as well! Perhaps re-home them and come to some arrangement regarding the off-spring! I currently have an empty 29G fully cycled if you are looking for a temp home. Bill

Bill. Is there any safe way to transport this pair with their eggs?
Are you at home today?

Re: More Angel Spawning
Well.. CocoB brought over the randy pair and they are now inhabiting a 29 along with a hob intake that is holding their spawn. I really don't expect much from this spawn so if anyone is looking to adopt, and split the fry with CocoB, hit me up! The male is a veil tail. Bill
