woo hoo wigglers!!!!!!

angels in the new 44 hex have a batch of wiggler.1st batch for them to reach wigglers now that they're in a tank with no plecos eating the eggs. 98% hatch rate at this point only 3 turned white.

wigglers in 18 hours of eggs being laid now just over 24 hours and some are trying to free swim. Parents going crazy already. Need to get a heater for the 10 gal to move into when freeswimming.

WOW!! AWESOME news! That's a fantastic hatch rate, too! I've never heard of the eggs hatching so fast! What temp is the tank? I had some start to wiggle at about 40hrs and thought that was something!! You got them on the fast track!! LOL. You've never raised out this cross before, right?

temp is 84, This pair has been laying for over a year but has always been with plecos which ate the eggs as soon as they were laid. Parents still keeping them all together about 10 freeswimming this morning.

Parents already did first move unbelievable how fast this batch is progressing. 1st move 30 hours after laying? looks about 100 to 125 (maybe more) hatched and were moved.

roommate tried to count fry gave up half way at 220 fry

A while back I had a pair spawn on a monster Val leaf... At one point it was hilarious watching the parents trying to corral the f/s'rs spitting them back at the leaf. Apparently their aim isn't that precise in that 99% of the time, they'd miss the colony. The other parent was on the other side of the leaf and catching and returning!.. It looked like a volleyball match!
