Hello Everyone
New to the forum. I live in Culpeper and work in Northern VA. I currently have 3 tanks and building another. I have a 56, 10 gallon planted and 5 gallon planted. All freshwater. My new build will be a 75 gallon freshwater planted with sump. Hope to be able to learn more about the hobby here as well as impart some lessons learned as well.

Hi! I'm new here too!
I am envious of the 75! Lots of things I'd love to do with that - like clown loaches!

Re: Hello Everyone
Thanks for the welcome. The 75 is going to be where I place my angels that are getting to big for the 56G. I only have 3 of them, but want more. No particular kind of angels, just buy the one's I like. I will also be getting a few schooling fish, maybe rummynose tetras, blue tetras, or the purple emporer tetra. I also like the celestial pearl danio's. I just ordered a nice big piece of driftwood. It will be planted pretty heavily. Don't know quite what it will have yet, but I'm not running CO2. I will be doing Miracle Grow Organic Potting Mix capped with Black Diamond blasting sand. The tank is already drilled with a corner overflow, which is why I'm doing a sump. I have a 20 long that I will be using where I will be making my own wet/dry trickle filter with a return pump. Since this won't take up the whole space of the 20 long, I will silicone in a piece of glass and have like a 5-8 gallon space on it's own filter to use as a quarantine area and more plants. The 56G will be torn down cleaned and then redone as a planted tank and I will probably do either the german blue rams or the golden ones and more schooling fish. May be a while, as I'm getting things done as funds are available. Still waiting to get the stand painted, just got it primed, but temp is to cold in my garage right now.

Re: Hello Everyone
Will try and do that. I wished I took pics from the very beginning. I bought the setup off craigslist for $60. It was a saltwater setup with a homemade stand. The light is no good for my use, so I will be selling that. The stand and tank had been sitting outside under her deck for almost a year, Squirrels did a pretty good job on some of the trim. Tank was pretty rough too. Tank has been resealed and cleaned. The stand was finished with wood putty, sanded down and primed. Now to finish painting it black and new hinges. Also added a few supports and put a floor in the stand. Temperature has me dead in the water right now.

Re: Hello Everyone
I guess I should take my own advice/plea's!.. I've a 155G that's been idle for over 6 months due to a center brace blow-out.. and a 75 sitting on my front porch for the last two weeks!... And two 29;s sitting empty! But I do have a re-do of the room that is my excuse! <grin> Bill

Re: Hello Everyone
Great. I love buying from folks on these forums who share the same love of the hobby as I do. 99% of the time you can find much better quality and variety than any big box pet store, which I hate buying from. Thanks for the offer and please let me know when you're ready to find some a home.neogeo20041 wrote:Another angel lover . I have tons of baby angels and most of them are going to need new home soon.

YAY! Another DIY member!! Craigslist and a great deal is awesome!! Chale, most of us try to stay clear of Big Box quality fish. There are so many folks on here willing to sell (or Trade or GIVE!) fish, plants, etc... We love these projects and really want to see updates as you move along!
BILL!! I'm coming over with a drill and some plexi and that 155 is getting fixed!! LOL
