Angelfish genetics article
I have been studying about angelfish genetics and have stumbled upon quite a lot of information. I was thinking of making an article about angelfish genotype and phenotype. Let me know what you guys think. I will comply all the information I gathered and will try use citation as much as i can but mostly I will write from my understanding of angelfish genetics and how it applies in breeding. Let me know if anyone is interested in reading my article.
Pic-is my next breeding project. Just so I can test what I have learned about genetics.

Re: Angelfish genetics article
I've looked into genetics of mystery snails, rats, and a little bit on cats, so reading what applies with a fish could be cool too.

Mystery snails seem to for the most part to "genetics for dummies"

NEO...LOL!! That can be taken two ways!! Angelfish genetics is fascinating and takes time to learn because of all the variables. I would love to see a good article from you.....May be helpful in school as well!!!

hahah....I always love sharing my passion and I feel the people that don't know anything about it will at least find it interesting. Hopefully they can use it for something they want to mess with. The same basic principle applies to everything thing else.

Re: Angelfish genetics article
I have been real busy working and curing random fish disease. Finally got some time this week. I want to use my own words as much possible because I hate citation. I have all the types of pheno and geno types down. Just need to start writing description about them. I'm not sure what I want to emphasize on yet besides the geno and pheno types.

Genotype
(g/g- S/S - p\p - v/+ -pb/pb)
Definition.
Geno- a genetic makeup of a fish. Ex-(+\+) silver aka wild type.
Pheno-a physical make of a fish. Ex-(blushing angelfish(pink gill)
Cross-when 2 different bloods are mixed/bred for better offspring.
Fry- when angelfish are hatched they don't have the shape of angelfish just yet but look like tiny fish.
Loci- the place the gene is located but not sure about the exact location.
Homozygous- two copies of the same gene. Ex-(a/a)
Heterozygous-one copy of a gene. Ex-(a/+)
Recessive-some genes that don't show unless they have 2 copies. Ex-(p-p) pearlscale when a fish has a copy of p it won't show.
Dominant-when a gene is expressed with just one copy. Ex-(D/+) no matter what the other gene is the fish will always express the black color.
Alleles-when two genes act together to form something different. Ex-M(marble) x g(gold) act as new allele Gm.

Re: Angelfish genetics article
I'm finally understanding the aspects of out crossing. It seems to be most important aspect for breeding. I just wanted to share
