Anyone a clue as to when a BNP is mature enough to start "dating" and taking the car? Bill

Can't find an article but mine are about a year and just about breeding size about 2". The females are getting wider and the 1 male is getting "peach fuzz". LOL

Thanks to both of you.....I was wondering about this! Was reading about how to distinguish females from males. Found out the males have "bristles" and the females don't. Cant really locate anything that specifies a certain age for breeding activity.
I now have three that I got from some guy with a man cave Laughing Wink . I've become very fond of these little "clowns". jocolor

6 months or less for the browns 2x as long for the albinos, they have a much slower growth rate.

Albino and browns are the same kind in commons. 6 months is about right once the males get the full barbs. size is more inportant than age.

But the albinos in bristle nose plecos grow about half as fast as the regular brown bristle noses. So they take about twice as long to reach maturity.

Ok...these are Albino. So, are the males always larger or grow faster than the females?...Out of three, one of mine seems to be 1/2" larger.

sometimes.....
Laughing not much help are we? Laughing
Males get a stripe of bristles going along their lip and a line of them running up their nose.
Offer a cave and see who is interested, Bamboo works well if you cant find a stone cave. If you buy a cave on aquabid or something make sure it is ancistrus sized and not hypancistrus or the other kinds. ancistrus is the bn pleco.
