Re: Lets do a local collection trip
Does anyone want to volunteer as a local guide for the following weekend? I'll be searching for some fishing spots but don't know where yet. Any suggestions in the Richmond area?

I'll be getting my fishing lisence this Friday and hopefully doing some fishing either Saturday or Sunday. Weather looks like it might be nice. Not collecting anything but just testing the water and trying to find some good spots. Anyone else fishing this weekend? If so, send me a PM.

Couldn't find any good public locations but a friend of mind let me collect at his uncle's place. Deep in the woods with a 2'-3' wide stream held many fish. Mostly caught a bunch of mountain redbelly dace, a few other dace, chub, a darter, and a couple of tadpoles.
If anyone wants some of the smaller dace, I have plenty to spare and share with club members.

They are the most colorful of the daces. You should be able to find some darters in that creek. Did you use a seine or dip net.

The seine didn't work well. There was too many tree roots and the fish stuck to those areas. The dip nets worked the best.

I'd have to say to all that are interested in such an endeavor to recruit Ira to head up the trek. He's traveled a fair part of Virginia in pursuit of wild-caughts... He's a bunch of honey-holes but he'll take some encouragement me thinks... I'll be in once ya'll come up with a date! Bill
p.s. I'm not really in a position to host any finds so .....

I'm up for Saturday.....if the temps are below 90.... we've spent almost 4 weeks without A/C and finally got it replaced today.... For a day or two I want to avoid oppressive heat!

I just looked at the weather and it looks like a great early morning opportunity. But after noon it gets hot and chances of thunder storms. Anyone else up for an early trip?
